Restoring Stepfamilies
Our founder, Winell Wilmote, is a Restoration Coach specializing in stepfamily dynamics. She has Master's degree in Social Work and Public Administration with a child welfare certification. Winell is also a licensed Social Worker with years of experience working as a mental health professional with children and families, providing individual, play, family, and marriage therapy. Winell and her husband have been married for seven years, and she is a mother of 2 and stepmom of 4 exceptional children.
Our founder founded Blended and Flourishing because she realized that many stepfamilies struggle to overcome the challenges of blending a family. Most importantly, many stepfamilies' marriages end in divorce due to the difficulties and stressors of blending a family, and the cycle continues.
The founder also noticed that there are limited safe spaces for stepmoms that encourage them not to sit in that space of despair. In 2017, God placed it on her heart to do something regarding stepfamilies. She was unsure what God wanted her to do but knew it was linked to her role as a stepmother. She and her husband have encountered many challenges while blending their family, and her stepmom's journey has been challenging.
However, God provided the grace, guidance, and peace she needed. Because of God, she overcame many challenges and had peace, joy, and happiness while doing so. Our founder realized that many stepmothers are so overwhelmed with the countless stressors of blending a family that it seems impossible to be at peace and happy in their journey. However, through her services to stepmothers, she realized the need for more support and resources for the stepfamily as a whole. Therefore, she decided to not only serve stepmothers but equip others who serve stepfamilies to provide the whole family with the support, resources, skillset, and hope they need for their families to blend and flourish.
